It’s hard to believe it’s almost been four years since the Silicon Valley Recruiters Association was founded. It’s been so impactful and humbling to have had the opportunity to build an organization that continues to impact the bay area recruiting community in a such a meaningful way. In the spirit of end of year end reflections and goal setting going into 2019, here is a short recap of what we’ve been fortunate to achieve over the last four years (almost!) and where we are heading in 2019.
Over the last four years, SVRA has:
-Hosted 21 events!
-Established ourselves as an official 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
-Grown our online presence to reach over 3,000 recruiting professionals via various social media channels.
-Landed our first long-term sponsor, Hiretual!
-Grown our Board of Directors to six members.
-Launched the Bay Area’s first Recruiter Mentorship program in 2017
-Hosted a Recruiting Tool Fair to bring together the best vendors in our industry in 2016
-Rolled out a membership based model for the association in March of 2018 to continue fostering a strong sense of community within talent acquisition in the bay area.
From the beginning, the mission for SVRA has always been to provide training and education opportunities for the talent acquisition community in an environment that is inclusive versus exclusive. We’ve met SO many talent recruiters and recruiting leaders, taken some calculated risks, and have learned a lot along the way about what our community needs to thrive. What we’ve found over the years? More content, training, and community, all of which is at the core of our being as an organization.
While we have come a long way and are proud of our achievements to date, we have much to do in 2019 and are excited to announce we are looking to expand our Board of Directors! There are a few reasons we have decided to expand our current team. One reason for the expansion of our team is to help us achieve the lofty goals we have set for 2019 to continue executing our mission as we grow our associations membership base. Something new to be on the lookout for in 2019 is more content for members to access, ultimately to help enable recruiters to always be improving at what we do!
Additionally, while I still plan to be very involved with the organization in a leadership capacity as Executive Director, I have recently relocated to Southern California and won’t be able to be physically as present and quite as hands-on as I’ve been in the past, leading for there to be quite a few exciting opportunities for others to get involved!

These are unpaid positions that will require about 2-4 hours a week of your own time going toward SVRA, with potentially more in the first six months. These roles are very hands on, not just meeting participation. The application deadline is January 1st and interviews will be conducted the first week of January.
-Develop annual community engagement plan.
-Build community events calendar including event topics, panelists, guest speakers/professional trainers, event sponsors, etc.
-Assist with event planning logistics, day of event check-in, fundraisers, and working directly with event sponsors to ensure successful events.
-Creates event collateral (presentation slides, day of event signage, etc.)
-Create SVRA membership content database.
-Source, develop, and publish recruiting case studies, reports, and blog posts for membership database and social media use.
-Build relationships with industry influencers and conduct interviews for live streams, webinars, podcasts, etc.
-Create content for monthly SVRA newsletter
-Create and curate blog content for SVRA.
-Manage SVRA website and branding for events.
-Previous experience or interest in marketing, blogging, and podcasts required.
SOCIAL MEDIA (1):
-Responsible for creating creative, authentic social media campaigns on facebook, linkedin, twitter, and slack.
-Creates, schedules, and executes campaigns with relevant content on a weekly (posting relevant articles, blog posts, case studies, etc.) to engage members in between events
-Leverages paid advertising when needed to create promotions
-Takes the lead on social media user interaction strategy leveraging stories on either facebook or instagram.
-Partners closely with content and community chair’s to share relevant information.
-Responsible for recording events and live streaming.
-Works closely with Executive Director to provide strategic direction to the organization.
-10+ years of in-house recruiting leadership experience or past/current board level experience required.
